Walt Chambers brings over 25 years of technical and management expertise in information systems engineering, computer systems product development / production and project management. This experience spans multiple industries including Retail Sales, Banking and Finance, Construction, and PC manufacturing.

Walt has spent the last 2 years consulting to McKnight Properties to bring the old JC Penny’s Data Center online.  When he started the project with McKnight, JC Penny’s had just recently moved out leaving infrastructure for a working collocation center.  McKnight hired H5 Colo to setup a prototype collocation center for it’s tenants to evaluate the business proposition for McKnight. H5 Colo is also given responsibility for setting up and providing Internet bandwidth to the customers in the Colo as well as the tenants in the 21 story building next door.

H5 Colo was launched in 1996, to focus on bringing Walt’s consulting expertise from large international corporations to small and medium companies. The Firm’s business strategy provides 3 - 5 year goal setting and planning based on the Owners and Senior management’s requirements, for successful implementation; H5 Colo turns these goals into project plans focusing on the IT infrastructure (which includes Telecom, Network Architecture, Hardware & Application selection, and related staff training).

Walt started his career working for companies such as: Lincoln Properties and Zales Corporation. He then joined HOGAN systems in developing an International Banking Systems product.  Walt then accepted a position with American Savings & Loan as the Project Manager over the implementation of the HOGAN systems at America Savings & Loan.

While at American Savings he accepted an opportunity in Australia as an independent consultant to assist large Australian banks from Sperry-Univac & Burroughs equipment to IBM Data Centers implementing the IBM HOGAN Banking and Financial System. This was done at three of the largest Australian banks in 1984 – 1989, which included:

  • The Bank of Melbourne: $120 Million project
  • The State Bank of South Australia:  $175 Million project
  • The Australian New Zealand Bank (ANZ, Australia’s largest). $300 Million project
Reporting directly to the Senior VP of IT for each bank; Walt provided consulting and design expertise to:

  • Security department to establish security standards and procedures,
  • Audit Department to develop Audit controls and reports,
  • Technical Support and Operations staff to architect the Development and Production hardware/software environments.

Upon return from Australia, Walt consulted to MBNA Credit Corporation reporting directly to the CIO.  His responsibilities included; reviewing and producing a report on the areas of greatest risk to the project, which lead to managing the highest risk area of the projects implementation of the IBM HOGAN Banking and Financial software system into their corporation.  MBNA was the largest credit card processor in the southwest during 1992-1993.

Walt’s extensive consulting background and international exposure secured him a lucrative offer to become a principal in a high tech startup company in Silicon Valley.  The company Kalidor developed, manufactured, marketed and provided PC systems integration for a pen based computer for rugged environments.  The principals had formed a joint venture with ALP’s Electric, a $4 billion Japanese firm (and the owner of Alpine audio equipment).

Kalidor went from a beginning of three principals to a staff of 22 people in 3 years. His position was VP of Systems Integration and he later became the acting VP of Operations.  During his time at Kalidor, Mr. Chambers was responsible for helping large client projects with system architecture, implementation, and configuration issues.
He established the Warranty and Repair center, the Technical Support Center, and was the key engineering contact for changes to the pen computer and peripheral design decisions.  Acting as VP of Operations Mr. Chambers became responsible for budgeting and managing all company areas except Marketing & Manufacturing.

Walt has a degree in Computer Science (minor in Accounting and Business Information Systems) from the University of North Texas. He has had extensive Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering and Developer courses.
